Around the Sass & Cecile house, we absolutely adore Halloween and any occasion to dress up and decorate. I remember being a little girl and pleading with my Mom to decorate the whole house and yard for Halloween starting in October. I loved the changing of the seasons, the cool Autumn air, falling leaves, and spooky feel in the air. Now that I’m a grown up, it’s my house and I get to do as I please– Halloween starts mid-September, and it belongs in every room I want it. It also includes multiple trips to our gorgeous Colorado Rocky Mountains to take pictures of the changing Aspens, outtings to the Pumpkin Patch, warm apple cider and hot chocolate, arts and crafts, as many costumes as we can find occasion, Halloween movies and books, and this year, a very special trip for Cecile’s birthday to Disneyland Mickey’s Halloween Party!
Here are some pics of Halloween at our House this year!
The first sign of Fall! Our annual trip to peep in the changing Aspens in Mid-September. We usually take a trip over Kenosha Pass headed to Crested Butte for the Fall Solstice festivities and a weekend of relaxation.
We are so lucky to live here!
Once we’re back, it’s officially time to break out the spooky decor and start making the house festive. I don’t know about you, but decorating is just MORE FUN with a little.
This year we did a Tim Burton-inspired tablescape:
and turned the front office into a Witch’s Study!
Charlotte’s play room got a makeover too:
I added some cute Halloween details to her playkitchen (she loves this thing and still plays with it all the time). I also added some cute Halloween banners. I love to use these to clip our seasonal crafts and art.
The Hocus Pocus Play Room
We love Halloween Crafts around here. This year we used Cecile’s adorable baby footprints to make some fun ghost are and Frankenfeet crafts to add to her play room.
Fall Arts & Crafts
Charlotte’s birthday is October 10th. This year we took her to Disney instead of doing a big party. (Let’s be honest, she’s 2. It’s not exactly the age of the major social event.)
She absolutely loved it and there were so many amazing activities and special Halloween parades, shows and rides that really made the trip special. That will be left for a future blog post on its own. When she turned 2, I didn’t want to miss out on 2 year photos, but I was worried because bad weather was coming in! Well, we braved the wet heavy snow anyway, and it actually made for some amazing photos! Here are just a few:
Charlotte’s 2nd Birthday Pictures
Be still, my heart. The gorgeous fall tones of the leaves topped with snow made for some STUNNING pictures.
What would a Fall in Colorado be without the customary trip to the Anderson Farms Pumpkin Patch.
THE QUINTESSENTIAL PHOTOG TRIP TO THE PUMPKIN PATCH
We took so many good pics I had a hard time deciding which to post! I realize that she’s my kid and she’s cuter to me than anyone, so I’ll spare the rest and move on to my favorite part…..
When you’re small, there are just so many opportunities to dress up.
Charlotte was a cat and an astronaut for her outtings to the boo at the zoo, trick or treat street at the museum, and story time.
Here’s the cat costume. I made the tutu and glued the ears on clips so I wouldn’t have to worry about her snatching a headband off over and over again.
The astronaut costume was left over from her monthly baby pics, but I still just adore it. It’s from Carter’s.
For the grand finale- our family costume….
This year we were vampires.
She wasn’t a princess or a fluffy animal like most her friends, but I think she still nailed it!
It would be Charlotte’s first year Trick or Treating, so I turned her wagon into a hearse for when those little legs were tired and she needed the convenience of a stylish ride! All the materials I used to make the wagon came from Dollar Tree of course, except the Radio Flyer wagon, which I got for $15 bucks off Facebook marketplace.
I managed to put it together during her nap time with the help of her nanny, and when she woke up, she kept squealing in excitement and saying “That’s NiiiiiiiiiiCE!!!”
Look at these 2:
This is in front of our house. The window display is “Scary Mary & Larry”
We got them from Oriental Trading. Here’s a similar one here: http://www.orientaltrading.com/mourning-glory-a2-13656879.fltr?categoryId=550048
